The
following press release was issued on 4th January 2005:
NEW DEVELOPMENT
FOR OPEN UNIVERSITY LAW SOCIETY
Following the very successful
relaunch of the OU Law Society publication, the OU Law Society Review,
the Society has now launched a web site.
The web site will shortly offer a news feed from Consilio (http://www.spr-consilio.com)
and gives information on the Society, sample articles from the Review and
information on OU Law courses. The web site also provides some useful links
to other sites of relevance to law students.
The Review editor welcomes articles
for inclusion in future issues. Since its re-launch in summer 2004, the
Review has been fortunate in being granted permission to publish articles
by Jeremy Paxman, Elizabeth Cruickshank (Chair of the Association of Women
Solicitors), Rosemary McKenna CBE MP, Janet Davies AM, Professor Gary Slapper,
Lincoln's Inn and numerous practicing lawyers and others working in the
field. 'We're well on the way to making the Review an academically interesting
publication' said Karen Dunlop, Review Editor since May 2004. Issue 12
of the OU Law Society Review, the quarterly publication of the OULS, has
just gone to press.
Membership of the Society is available to current and former Open University
students, and subscriptions to the OU Law Society Review are available to non-members. For
further information about the Society or the Review visit the web
site or e-mail the webmaster.
The Open University Law Society
was founded in 2002 by Richard Hand and is intended to be a supporting
organisation for students of the law courses offered by the Open
University in conjunction with the College of Law. The OULS is entirely
run by students. The Open University law faculty, headed by Professor Gary
Slapper, can be contacted here and
the College of Law can be contacted here.
